Top 10 Yorkshire Festivals

It doesn’t matter where you are in Yorkshire, you’re bound to find plenty of festivals just a hop, skip, and jump away this summer. To give you a taste of what’s on offer, we’ve put together a list of our top 10 events.

  1. Swaledale Festival

Celebrating music and the arts across the northernmost Yorkshire Dales of Swaledale, Wensleydale, and Arkengarthdale, the award-winning Swaledale Festival will play host to some of the world’s most popular classical artists from May 28th through to June 11th.

  1. Grassington Festival

Also held in the Yorkshire Dales, the Grassington Festival, now in its 35th year, brings a slightly more contemporary selection of entertainment options, from visual arts to live music. Head down between June 17th and July 2nd.

  1. The Willowman Festival

A family favourite held at the Hillside Rural Activities Park in Thirsk from June 16th to 19th, The Willowman Festival will bring talented musicians and a ‘Chill Out Cafe’ for the parents, with camping and glamping available for overnight stays.

  1. Beverley Folk Festival

If you’re in the East of Yorkshire, visit the Beverley racecourse between June 17th and 19th to take in one or two of the 110 acts set to be performed, from poetry to film.

  1. Hull Folk and Maritime Festival

From July 15th to 17th, Hull will welcome over 70 live acts, with singarounds and folk dancing included. As an added plus, this year’s event incorporates the Minerva Real Ale Festival.

  1. The Deer Shed Festival

With a host of children’s shows and workshops, The Deer Shed Festival comes to Baldersby Park, Topcliffe in North Yorkshire from July 22nd to 24th.

  1. Underneath the Stars Festival

From July 22nd to 24th, the Cannon Hall Farm will be turned into a family festival of music and arts, with music workshops, kid’s tent, and giant planetarium just a few key attractions.

  1. Freedom Festival

Heading back to Hull, the Freedom Festival brings street theatre, music, dance, and visual art from September 2nd to 4th.

  1. Leeds Festival

It’s hard to ignore Leeds Festival – it’s a worldwide phenomenon, with Kasabian, Eminem, and Muse headlining across August 26th, 27th, and 28th.

  1. Cornucopia Festival

Held at Burton Constable, a prestigious Elizabethan stately home just East of Hull and Beverley, the Cornucopia Festival brings family-friendly music, art, and comedy. There’s a little bit of everything from September 23rd to 25th.
